ABC World News Tonight Is Most-Watched For May Sweep, and the Only Broadcast to See Overall Grow

ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir was the most-watched newscast for the May sweep, topping NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt by its widest margin in 11 years.

Holt’s broadcast was No. 1 among the A25-54 demo, which matters most to advertisers of news, winning its 12th straight sweep.

Muir’s broadcast was the only network evening newscast to see overall growth vs. May 2017 up +5 percent in viewers and up +4 percent in the demo. Holt’s Nightly News also added viewers, up +1 percent, but was down -5 percent in the demo. CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was down -7 percent in viewers and down -10 percent in the demo, vs. last May.
