ABC News’ Chief Washington Correspondent Jon Karl tested positive for Covid-19 late Monday, a source confirms to TVNewser.

Politico’s Max Tani broke the news.

Karl tested negative on Saturday afternoon before the White House Correspondents Dinner by medically-supervised staff. He’s fully vaccinated and boosted—and is now isolating and participating in contact tracing.

The longtime ABC Newser received an award in the “Excellence in Presidential Coverage Under Deadline Pressure” category for broadcast during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He appeared on the dais, received his award, shook hands with others there—including President Biden—and gave some acceptance remarks.

Karl sat near Kim Kardashian at ABC News’ White House Correspondents’ Dinner table on Saturday, and TVNewser spotted him at a variety of receptions over the weekend, including ones hosted by NBC and CAA on Friday night, as well as ABC News and other receptions before and after the dinner on Saturday.
