ABC News Hopes For Win With NASCAR

By Alissa Krinsky

NASCAR in Primetime, a new, five-week series premiering this Wednesday, is the latest effort by ABC News in non-traditional news programming. NASCAR, which, the Charlotte Observer reports, “aims to explain the culture and attraction the nation’s fastest-growing sport”, comes on the heels of ABC’s Six Degrees of Martina McBride in July, and the six-week, ongoing “i-Caught” newsmagazine, hosted by Bill Weir. The News division has also produced a two-hour special on Elvis Presley, Elvis: Viva Las Vegas, set to air September 12.
