ABC News’ Diane Sawyer Examines Sex Trafficking

By Brian Flood

ABC News’ Diane Sawyer is teaming up with New York Times journalist Nicholas Kristof to explore whether prostitutes in sex trafficking rings are actually criminals or victims. Kristof’s upcoming PBS documentary series, “A Path Appears,” examines the sex trade in America and the recruitment of young girls.

Sawyer looks at law enforcement’s role in addressing the problem, heading to Port Authority in New York City to see where many of the girls are targeted. Sawyer seems committed to women’s issues, as her next project is an in-depth, long-term special covering all aspects of women in prison.

The Sex Trafficking report will be popping up all over ABC, “World News Tonight with David Muir” will air the first clip tonight. The full report airs tonight on “Nightline” at 12:35 amET and “Good Morning America” will air a clip on Monday.
