ABC Journos Killed: “We’ve Lost Two Family Members. It Really Hurts”

Today on GMA, correspondent Terry McCarthy described his two Iraqi colleagues who were ambushed on the way home:

“Alaa was a tall, gregarious guy. I’ve done many stories with him. I’ve seen him hop in and out of helicopters with his camera gear in 120 degree heat without ever complaining. He was married, and he is leaving behind two daughters, 10 and 4 years old.

Saif was a quieter guy, he was very gentle, very patient. Saif was due to be married in the next couple of months.”

McCarthy added: “This bureau here, more than any, has been brought together because of the war. We feel very much like a family. Today, we’ve lost two family members. It really hurts.”
