ABC Dismisses Report Network Has ‘Sweetened’ Offer to Megyn Kelly

By Mark Joyella

Has ABC made an offer–and perhaps even “sweetened” its offer–to Fox News Channel host Megyn Kelly? Not according to ABC, which told Vanity Fair “there has never been an offer of any job, and therefore there is nothing that could be sweetened. End of story.”

The magazine, citing a source “familiar with the discussions” reported ABC has stepped up its efforts to lure Kelly. “At one point, in an overture, Kelly was shown a recruitment presentation depicting the so-called legends of ABC, which started, oddly enough, with an image of Willy Wonka, and ended with one of Kelly.”

Kelly did not comment, but a spokesperson told the magazine:

“People can parse language any way they want,” Leslee Dart, a spokesperson for Kelly, told me. “The fact of the matter is that fortunately Megyn Kelly has been presented with more opportunities than ever before. She is incredibly grateful and is taking the time she needs to make this important decision for her family and her career.” (Kelly did not speak for this story.)
