ABC Autism Story Sees Major Viewer Reaction

By SteveK

Since ABC’s World News ran a story on autistic teenager Carly Fleishman on Tuesday’s broadcast, the story has continued to maintain a presence on the ABCNews.com site. It has been the most popular page on the World News portion of the site, and nearly 2,500 emails and comments have come in from viewers.

Today ABC’s John McKenzie conducted a follow-up interview with Carly’s parents. They answered questions from viewers, and the page has received several dozen comments as well.

The report focuses on how computers have allowed Carly a way to communicate with the world, and thus, she is getting involved herself. The 13-year-old is responding personally to many of the comments asked by viewers on the ABC site. A follow-up story ran last night on World News about her responses.
