A Ratings Lift for Dateline NBC’s Sunday Run

By Chris Ariens

Dateline NBC, which was added to NBC’s Sunday schedule for much of the spring, had its best performance in the younger demos in four years in the just-completed second quarter. The venerable crime-focused newsmagazine was up +12 percent in the A18-49 demo and up +5 percent in the A25-54 demo, versus the same quarter last year.

A total of eight Dateline episodes aired on Sunday at 10 p.m. ET during Q2. The most popular included Andrea Canning’s report on a realtor from Little Rock, Arkansas who goes missing after showing a house; and two Dennis Murphy reports: one on a former Cornell student and star athlete caught in the middle of a homicide investigation and another on the disappearance of a wife and mother of three from Georgia.

Dateline has concluded its Sunday 10 p.m. run for now, and will be back on NBC’s fall schedule with episodes on Friday and Saturday nights.
