A Different Kind Of Volatility

By Chris Ariens

In its various forms, the August 3 Jim Cramer Bernanke rant has been downloaded more than 1.6M times on YouTube. But a closer look at another number, the viewers of Cramer’s CNBC show, shows something quite different.

In the 25-54 demo, the 6pmET version of Mad Money has scratched 14 times, or 39% of the time, in the 3rd quarter to date. (According to Nielsen, a scratch on CNBC in the A25-54 demo means the viewership is below 51,000.) Mad Money has even scratched twice in August — during some of the most volatile weeks of the market.
