Today was the worst day of the year for the stock market.
The Dow experienced a whopping 767-point drop (or 2.9%), as investors expressed concern about the new trade threats between the U.S. and China.
The S&P 500 (-3%) and Nasdaq (-3.5%) also closed at two-month lows, as President Trump accused China of manipulating its currency.
To drive home the importance of this story, CNBC decided to go almost commercial-free throughout the day. According to Variety’s Brian Steinberg, the network had only had one commercial break from 9:30 a.m. through 12 p.m. ET, and went through the closing bell without another.
CNBC markets reporter and anchor Dominic Chu brought this up on Twitter.
If you have not noticed, @cnbc has been commercial-free for hours now…
