NBC’s longest-running prime time show, Dateline, returns tonight for its 26th season.
The show will be filling two hours of NBC’s Friday nights with back-to-back episodes for the rest of the year.
The venerable NBC News show topped its Friday night competitor, ABC’s 20/20, during the 2016-2017 season. The 2-hour Friday block averaged 4.6 million total viewers, 1.5 million in the A25-54 demo and 1.2 million in the A18-49 demo. Like most broadcast news show, that’s down from the 2015-2016 season: down -3 percent in viewers, down -9 percent in A25-54 and down -8 percent in A18-49.
