Evening News Ratings: Week of April 18

By Chris Ariens

NBC’s Lester Holt, the only TV journalist on the TIME 100, gave Nightly News another win in the evenings, and was the only newscast to see growth, though slight, verses the same week last year.

Nightly News was up 1 percent in viewers but down 1 percent in the A25-54 demo. April was Nightly’s 10th consecutive monthly win in both viewers and the demo. And the total viewer margin over ABC’s World News Tonight was the largest since December. World News Tonight, which won this week last year, was down -6 percent in viewers and down -17 percent in the demo for the week. David Muir was off last week with substitute anchors filling in.

The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley is the only evening newscast to add viewers season-to-date, up 2 percent, compared to last season. Year-over-year, Evening News was down 1 percent in both viewers and the demo.
