With GOP Debate, FBN Is Tops on Cable

By Chris Ariens

With 11 million viewers tuning in for last Thursday’s GOP debate, Fox Business Network was the most-watched cable network in prime time for the week. The debate–the second for FBN and the sixth for the GOP this cycle–was also the most-watched non-sports program on cable last week.

With continued volatility in the global markets, as well as the debate, FBN had its highest-rated week in Business Day (9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. ET) ever, topping CNBC in both prime time and total day in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo. This is just the second time FBN topped CNBC in both dayparts for a week, averaging 488,000 total viewers to CNBC’s 203,000, in total day (6 a.m. – 6 a.m. ET). The first time was in November, when FBN hosted its first GOP debate.

That debate was watched by 13.5 million people, giving the network its best month ever since going on the air Oct. 2007.
