Jay Leno’s Garage Premieres As Most-Watched Original Series in CNBC History

By Brian Flood

The debut of Jay Leno’s Garage was CNBC’s most-watched original series ever. Wednesday’s first episode drew 916,000 total viewers and 272,000 A25-54 viewers.

During the premiere episode, CNBC was a Top 10 cable network among total viewers during the 10 p.m. ET time slot and a top 5 cable network among men. Leno joked about the small (though upscale) CNBC audience at a launch party Wednesday night. He said it was his “goal is to meet each viewer personally,” before adding, “right now on CNBC that should be pretty easy to do.”

CNBC has ordered up 8 episodes for season one.
