‘Lost’ Safe from State of the Union Preemption

During yesterday’s White House press briefing, press secretary Robert Gibbs responded to questions regarding ABC’s “Lost” and explained that the rescheduled State of the Union address would not fall at the same time (Feb 2nd) as the show’s final season premiere:

I will say this on behalf of ABC Radio: I don’t foresee a scenario in which millions of people that hope to finally get some conclusion in ‘Lost’ are pre-empted by the president.

He did not, however, rule out the possibility that the president could give the State of the Union on Feb 2nd and then turn a giant, underground wheel to move the State of the Union to 1974 for no apparent reason other than to avoid finally explaining why they found a polar bear in the chamber of commerce.
