Comcast released its earnings report for the first quarter of 2015, and the company’s NBCUniversal unit reported revenue declines in both cable and broadcast TV–growth off 6% in cable, and 14% at broadcast’s NBC.
Last week, the Pew Research Center released its “State of the News Media 2015” report, which found “stagnant” growth for cable.
In April, MSNBC reported double-digit declines in ratings. Overall however, Comcast’s earnings report beat analysts’ expectations, with a rise in high-speed internet customers offsetting a loss in cable customers.
