Only a few days before Bob Schieffer announced his retirement, CBS’ “Face the Nation” was the top rated Sunday public affairs program in both total viewers and the key A25-54 demo on April 5.
ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” barely edged out NBC’s “Meet the Press with Chuck Todd” for second place in total viewers, but “MTP” topped “This Week” for No. 2 in the demo.
“Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer” was up +7% in total viewers and up +28% in the demo, compared to the same week last year. “This Week” was down -6% in viewers and down -4% in the demo. “Meet the Press” finished down -8% in viewers but up +10% the demo.
“Fox News Sunday” was up +5% in viewers but down -14% in the demo, while combining with cable replays for 2.9 million viewers. Replays on FNC averaged a combined 1.75 million total viewers and 354K in the demo.
Because of the Easter Sunday holiday, “Meet The Press,” “Face The Nation,” and “This Week” were all re-titled and will not be included in the quarter or season averages.
“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 76.3% of the country.
