Recently, there have been a number of questions regarding TVNewser’s use of anonymous sources as a reporting tool. While many have made the case that such unreliable sources degrade the quality of journalism readers are exposed to, such anonymous tipsters are an undeniable asset in the world of blogging and online reporting.
To help create an atmosphere of transparency and high journalistic standards, the editors of TVNewser have elected to publish a list of the unnamed sources and “insiders” cited during our reporting in the 2009 calendar year. We will not identify the individual articles in which the information appeared, but we do think it’s valuable to reveal these names, particularly in the current journalistic climate:
