New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has been taking some heat today for keeping city schools open during the snow storm, and “Today’s” Al Roker joined in via Sochi.
So now my daughter’s NYC public school is being let out early. @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools Is it worth putting kids’ safety at risk?

And how about all the parents and caregivers who have to scramble to get their kids home? Is there no one there with any common sense?

I knew this am @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools would close schools. Talk about a bad prediction. Long range DiBlasio forecast: 1 term

Roker was tweeting away during a press conference Mayor de Blasio gave this morning, with Willie Geist offering the visual.
Thought @AlRoker was texting his wife at dinner in Sochi. Nope, “chatting” with the mayor of New York City. pic.twitter.com/wGDB3U00NS

Roker went on to criticize the mayor for seeming to point blame at the National Weather Service.
How dare @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools throw NWS under the school bus. Forecast was on time and on the money

De Blasio responded to Roker’s criticism during the press conference.
“I respect Al Roker a lot,” he said, adding,”It’s a different thing to run a city than to give the weather on TV.”
