As expected, ABC’s “Good Morning America” was the top network morning show in total viewers last week, the first week back following NBC’s coverage of the 2012 Olympics. The win is especially significant for ABC, as NBC received a substantial Olympics ratings bump during the games, and had special segments and concerts last week to try and retain those viewers.
It is the first time ABC has beaten NBC in a post-Olympics week since 1992.
In the key adults 25-54 demo, NBC’s “Today” was the leader, though it had a lead of only 58,000 demo viewers.
Compared to the same week last year, ABC was up in both total and demo viewers, and NBC was down.
“CBS This Morning” was third, though it saw year over year improvements in both total and demo viewers.
The averages for the week of August 13:
- Total Viewers: ABC: 4.654M / NBC: 4.399M / CBS: 2.376M
- A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.739M / NBC: 1.797M / CBS: 866K
