CNBC has crowned a winner in the fourth-annual “Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge”: Dieterich, Illinois resident Gary Lewis.
Lewis was the recipient of the grand prize — $1 million — in the contest, which ran from Sept. 19 – Dec. 2 and challenged contestants to compile the highest aggregate value portfolio using a “virtual” million dollars.
In years past, CNBC has investigated claims of “unusual trading” by participants, but Lewis — who beat second-place Scott Cole by less than 1% — won fair and square.

And don’t feel too bad for Cole: the second-place prize was a 2012 Maserati GranTurismo Convertible Sport (pictured), valued at $142,800.
