Among the 10 finalists in the news category for 2017 Peabody Awards, three CNN reports and two CBS News stories are being singled out.

The CNN stories “Battle for Mosul,” “ISIS in Iraq and Syria,” and “Undercover in Syria,” are all finalists, as are the 60 Minutes story “The White Helmets” and the CBS Evening News report “Heart of an Epidemic, West Virginia’s Opioid Addiction.”

The VICE on HBO episode “Student Debt” is also a finalist in the news category.

In the documentary category ESPN’s “O.J.: Made in America” is a finalist. The series already won Oscar this year for Best Documentary. Netflix, HBO, Investigation Discovery and NYTimes.com are also finalists in the documentary category.

Of the 60 finalists, 30 Peabody Awards winners will be recognized in a ceremony on May 20. The event will be televised on PBS and Fusion on June 2.

Honoring powerful storytelling in TV, radio and digital media, the Peabody Awards were founded in 1940 at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
