Tonight, on ABC’s 20/20, Diane Sawyer updates viewers on three young people first introduced on the program in January: 4 year-old Ivan Stevens, 17 year-old Billy Joe Marrero, and 6 year-old Andrieana “Moochie” Rodriguez, all of Camden, New Jersey. As an ABC News press release states, the kids were featured in a 20/20 report “on the hopes, dreams, and terrible hardships children face living in one of the poorest cities in America.”
An ABC spokesperson says 20/20 decided to go back to Camden for an update on the three after overwhelming response, which included financial donations by viewers to the children and their families. “Between the stunning outpouring of interest in the original report, the tidal wave of generosity from our viewers and the many developments with the kids,” the spokesperson tells TVNewser, “we felt it was the right time for an update.”
