Yup, it’s that time of year again &mdash when institutions of higher education announce their commencement speakers. We’ve learned that two East Coast schools have lined up TV journos:

• On May 18, CBS’ Lesley Stahl will talk to graduates at Colgate University in upstate New York. She will receive an honorary degree during the commencement ceremony.

“I’m confident that Ms. Stahl’s address will hold a great message for the Class of 2008,” Senior Class President Taylor Buonocore tells school paper The Colgate Maroon. “There’s a lot of experience and perspective behind the message she’ll give during commencement.”

• Also on May 18, NBC’s Meredith Vieira will speak at her alma mater, Tufts University, outside Boston. She’ll also receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters. Vieira is a 1975 graduate.

“Meredith Vieira is one of the most respected figures in American journalism today,” Tufts President Lawrence Bacow said in a press release. “Tufts is very proud to claim her as a distinguished graduate, and I know that her remarks will resonate with our graduates and their families.”
