Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell have signed on for an untitled comedy project for Amazon Studios.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the logline for the project is still a mystery, but the premise involves two weddings booked at the same location on the same weekend. Amazon secured the rights to the film in a deal with writer-director Nick Stoller. According to the report, there was a highly competitive bid from movie studios and streaming platforms.

Stoller has a solid reputation for delivering commercially successful comedies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, Neighbors 2, The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted and Bros, a gay romantic comedy starring Billy Eichner, which premieres this fall.

Witherspoon and Ferrell also come into this project with solid comedic backgrounds. Witherspoon is no stranger to romantic comedies, starring in Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama, Four Christmases and This Means War. Ferrell has starred in comedic hits like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Step Brothers, Old School and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

The two stars will also executive produce the project. Witherspoon will utilize her production company, Hello Sunshine, with Lauren Newstadter, and Ferrell will produce through Gloria Sanchez Productions with Jessica Elbaum.
