Why You’re About to Pay More for Hulu

Next Monday, Hulu will be hiking its rates.

As first announced in August, the price increase means subscribers will be paying $7.99 per month with ads and $14.99 per month without ads.

There won’t be any pricing changes for the Disney Bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

When Disney+ launches its ad-supported tier on Dec. 8, the Disney Bundle will increase to $14.99 per month. The ad-free tier will remain the same at $19.99 per month.

Disney is also introducing two new, more affordable ad-supported subscription packages: $9.99 per month for Disney+ and Hulu and $12.99 per month for all three streamers.

Hulu’s live TV bundle will also remain the same, costing $74.99 for live TV, Hulu and ESPN+ with commercials and Disney+ without ads for current users.

Price hikes are unfortunately becoming more common.

Netflix and Prime Video announced price hikes at the start of this year. Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels hinted at a possible rate hike for HBO Max and Discovery+ during a Goldman Sachs Communacopia Tech Conference in mid-September, calling both streamers “fundamentally underpriced.”
