When the LA quake hit, people Twittered it like crazy. The first message beat the AP by 9 minutes, which led the Twitter co-founder Biz Stone to describe Twitter as a “personal news wire.” While the AP and Twitter are apples to oranges — one’s edited, the other’s not — I think we’re just scratching the surface on different Twitter-like apps that could be tied to breaking news.
