HBO’s hit show True Blood returns tonight (Sunday) with its season premiere, and moments after it airs, the second episode will debut on XfinityTV.com, the Xfinity iPad app and HBO Go a full week early.
For Comcast’s Xfinity, it’s a way to drive awareness to its online and recently-launched tablet presence. For HBO, the HBO Go experience is a crowd favorite, especially its new iPad app. This weekend HBO expects to hit 3 million downloads, which for an iPad app that debuted on May 2nd — and doesn’t include Time Warner Cable subscribers — is rather impressive.

It’s safe to predict that tablet premieres will become a popular way to drive app downloads in the coming months, and we’re just beginning to see it in action.
