Trendrr ranks TV shows by social buzz

TV shows are fighting for social attention, and now one company says it can measure who’s coming out on top. Trendrr, which is part of WiredSet, has debuted its “social television charts” that measure the top TV shows by social buzz.

Here’s the daily chart (weekly is also available), which gives the top spot to AMC’s “The Killing” on cable and last night’s “Academy of Country Music Awards” on the broadcast side.

Trendrr looks at data from Facebook, Twitter, Miso and GetGlue, combining mentions with check-ins to determine “total activity.” You can also drill down into sentiment analysis by show. There’s much more data available in Trendrr’s premium service — “most anticipated” shows and competitive graphs — which it offers to television clients.

“The purpose of the index is to better understand the two-screen synchronous social behavior taking place around television,” said Wiredset CEO Mark Ghuneim. “Understanding this behavior is important as networks assess how digital and social behaviors drive profits from new and legacy revenue streams.”

Now, if only someone can correlate it statistically with ratings…
