Trendrr: NBC News, CNN Most social TV networks during debate

By Alex Weprin

Social TV tracker Trendrr’s daily report shows that last night’s Presidential debate was easily the most talked about TV programming on social media, with NBC and CNN leading the way in terms of online discussion. Somewhat surprisingly  MSNBC was the subject of more online discussion than sister broadcast network NBC, according to the report, while Current TV–which based its debate coverage around social–was discussed more than CBS or PBS.

Given the TV ratings of past debates, it is fair to say that social discussion around the debates does not correlate cleanly with ratings, but the report is nonetheless an interesting glimpse into which networks are succeeding in generating discussion online around big news events.

Update: Trendrr tells me that an earlier version of the chart had incorrect data, the chart below is accurate.
