Praise the gods and perhaps the executives of Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder dropped today, offering long-awaited clues to what’s in store for the God of Thunder – mainly retirement.
Per the synopsis:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarking on a trip unlike any other he’s ever undertaken – a quest for inner peace. But a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the destruction of the gods, interrupts his retirement – not that we really expected the Viking god to stay retired.
In addition to Thor, King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and Thor’s ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) all return. This time, Jane Foster doesn’t stay on the sidelines as she takes the identity of Mighty Thor and wields Thor’s mystical hammer, Mjolnir. And that hammer will come in handy when the group tries to stop the God Butcher before it’s too late.
The fourth film in the Thor series, Thor: Love and Thunder, opens in theaters July 8.
