We recently wrote about CNN iReport’s major upgrade. The social news platform also recently announced that they’ve reached 1,00,000 iReporters around the globe.
As the election seasons continues to heat up, we saw President Obama participate in a Google+ Hangout. Now, First Lady Michelle Obama made herself available to answer questions from iReporters. The questions that were asked from iReporters around the world were mostly very interesting and also personal. People wanted to know how she stays healthy, what President Obama’s favorite snacks are and how she manages her family with her busy schedule.
The First Lady had an iPad in hand as she read the questions from the different iReporters, a great move to show how technically savvy the first family could be. Providing a few moments on camera for some iReporters might seem like a simple project but the commitment to engage with users on popular social platforms like iReport or Google+ sends an important message that both young people, old people and anyone who cares about the importance of technology and social media should remember. It’s important to see that the first family and republican candidates aren’t just taking media doors to communities in states they’re scared of losing votes on. It’s also important to find the influencers on the social web and give them something to report on.
