Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon and The Winter Soldier) will star in the new Peacock series Twisted Metal, an action-comedy based on the classic PlayStation video game from the ’90s.

Beatriz will play Quiet, a ferocious car thief. Quiet wishes to find her place in a dark, chaotic world and forms an unlikely alliance with John Doe (Mackie), a fast-talking Milkman who delivers supplies from one post-apocalyptic wasteland to another. With no memory of his past, John’s only goal is to survive until he gets a chance to reconnect with his community.

The series is an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland).

Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai) serves as showrunner, and Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Bad Trip) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes. Mackie, Will Arnett and Marc Forman of Electric Avenue are also executive producers.

Twisted Metal started as a series of vehicular combat video games published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 1995 and has appeared on PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3.
