Netflix will play the Squid Game again.

The streamer confirmed on Sunday that the Korean drama would return for Season 2, not that its future was really in doubt after its record-breaking launch. After all, when it takes days to become a breakout hit, renewing the show for another season is a no-brainer.

“It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever,” Hwang Dong-hyuk wrote in a letter. “As the writer, director and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show.”

He confirmed that Season 2 will see the return of Gi-hun and the Front Man, while the man in the suit with Ddakji may also be back. Young-hee’s boyfriend Cheol-su will also enter the series.

Last year, Hwang Dong-hyuk said he was in talks with Netflix regarding Season 2 and Season 3, according to The Korea Times. Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer, announced the Korean miniseries’ comeback during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call.
