TiVo is expected to announce earnings later this afternoon that are pretty much unchanged from last year, at 7 cents a share. In March, they acquired some of Aereo’s assets and if you’re an ex-customer, you’ve been inundated with TiVo Roamio offers in your inbox.
They really want you to get into the Roamio OTA, which is pretty hardcore. It works with any antennae, integrates Hulu and Netflix with regular broadcasts, and most importantly, records four shows at once. Aereo didn’t do that, and thank goodness, because it probably would have been shut down much sooner.
Maybe if it weren’t so hard to set up, more people would buy them. Apparently, it can take hours and hours hours:

Now that I have set up a new Tivo & passed through the Valley of the Shadow of Time-Warner Customer Service, I demand an MIT diploma.

On the plus side, Tivo has amazing & quick customer service and, via Twitter, they actually enabled me to set up my new Roamio Tivo.
