Roku Launches New Sports Experience on Home Screen

Sports lovers can now watch their favorite events more easily than ever thanks to Roku’s brand-new Sports experience, which integrates live, upcoming and sports-related content in a single hub.

And to ensure that they never miss a second of the action, Roku users will also benefit from a deeper and more practical integration of Sports inside other platform features, including Roku Search, Roku Voice, Sports Zone and more. The sports leagues that air will have sports-related material available on supported channels during those seasons.

“We know that keeping track of where sports are being streamed has only become more fragmented over the past few years,” said Alex Hill, Director of Live & Sports at Roku, in a statement. “Watching your favorite teams should be simple, so we’ve made it a priority to build out a more seamless and streamlined way to discover and watch sports on our platform. Sports are a vital part of the streaming experience, and we will continue to make enhancements to that experience, like adding more supported providers and finding new ways for our users to follow their favorite teams.”

Users may scroll down to Sports on the Home Screen Menu, search for “sports” or related terms like a team or league name in Roku Search, or use Roku Voice to find and use the new Sports experience on the platform.

Users can view current and upcoming games for an initial roster of leagues, conferences, and other entities within the new Sports experience.

A user also will get watch options for that event from supported channels when they click on the tile for a game that they want to watch.

In addition to today’s sports updates, Roku has added new sports-related shows to The Roku Channel, including the popular sports and entertainment talk show The Rich Eisen Show and the all-new Roku Original series Emeril Tailgates, where food and lifestyle icon Emeril Lagasse discovers and creates new recipes for your next big game.

Currently, Apple TV, DirecTV, Fox Sports, FuboTV, Paramount+, Peacock, Prime Video, Sling, The Roku Channel, TNT, TBS, and truTV provide the Sports experience; other streaming services will be added soon.

Additionally, GNC has exclusively sponsored the College Football Sports Zone in November.
