Riveting tweets from Egypt's Tahrir Square

By Steve Safran

They’re some of the most compelling tweets we’ve read. Let’s start with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who was reporting on the clashes in Cairo when he was attacked:

And then there’s NBC’s Richard Engel: “Watching flaming bombs being dropped from buildings.” Dan Nolan from Al Jazeera: “So many bloodied faces pouring out of this battle. Just saw v young maybe 8yr? old boy unconscious being carried on man’s back.” Gregg Carlstrom, also from Al Jazeera: “I was chased by angry mobs twice, kicked a few times, had rocks thrown at me. Crowd very hostile to journalists (esp. AJ), foreigners.”
