Putting your top web story to a Facebook vote

By Cory Bergman

Back in May, WSB-TV in Atlanta let its Facebook fans decide which of two stories a consumer reporter should cover. Now, KGO-TV in the Bay Area is experimenting with asking its fans to pick the top story on its website using Facebook Questions:

This question is especially interesting since the debt crisis — a story that you wouldn’t normally see as a top story on a local TV site — came out well ahead of the others. While TV stations have done something similar for years using old-fashioned polls, the Facebook angle is encouraging new experimentation. Facebook Questions is great way to engage people, not to mention it helps boost your EdgeRank score.
