Thrillers were the genre of choice for Netflix fans last week.
Pieces of Her, a series about a woman who pieces together her mother’s dark past after a violent attack in their small town brings hidden threats and deadly secrets to light, and The Adam Project, the Ryan Reynolds-fronted sci-fi film about time-traveling fighter pilot Adam Reed teaming up with his 12-year-old self for a mission to save the future, have topped Netflix’s latest Top 10 list for English TV shows and films, respectively, for the week of March 13.
On the TV side, thriller crime series Pieces of Her’s first season landed at No. 1, racking up 95.72 million hours viewed. British historical fiction The Last Kingdom’s fifth season (63.54 million hours) and Shonda Rhimes‘ limited series Inventing Anna (51.84 million hours) were next, followed by historical drama Vikings: Valhalla’s first season (41.76 million hours) and documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive’s fourth season (28.01 million hours).
Next was docuseries Worst Roommate Ever (26.29 million hours), followed by fourth season of NBC’s now-canceled crime dramedy Good Girl’s fourth season (24.5 million hours). Last were the second season of the reality show Love Is Blind (24.24 million hours), the first season of The Last Kingdom (17.18 million hours), and the fifth season of crime drama Queen of the South (11.46 million hours).
For non-English TV, Korean shows and telenovelas were the shows of choice. Korean legal drama Juvenile Justice’s first season kept the top spot, as viewers spent 25.94 million hours watching. The first season of Columbian telenovela Café con aroma de mujer was next (23.06 million hours), followed by Spain miniseries Lies and Deceit (20.24 million hours) and Korean coming-of-age zombie apocalypse series All of Us Are Dead’s first season (17.48 million hours).
The first seasons of Korean romantic comedies Twenty Five Twenty Office (17.11 million hours) and Business Proposal (15.9 million hours) came afterward, trailed by the first seasons of Turkish drama Midnight at the Pera Palace’s (14.69 million hours) and Korean series Forecasting Love and Weather (12.35 million hours). Rounding out the list were Columbian telenovelas Yo soy Betty, la fea’s first season (10.34 million hours) and The Queen of Flow’s second season (8.41 million hours).
On the film side, The Adam Project had a whopping 92.43 million hours viewed. Leighton Meester-led thriller The Weekend Away was second (26.26 million hours), followed by survival film Against The Ice (12.73 million hours). Animated films got some love last week, with Shrek in fourth place (10.38 million hours) and Shrek 2 in fifth (9.9 million hours).
Comedy film A Madea Homecoming (9.03 million hours) was next, trailed by action thriller Shooter (7.39 million hours) and animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (5.91 million hours). Last were animated comedy Despicable Me 2 (5.72 million hours) and biographical sports drama Coach Carter (5.45 million hours)
For non-English films, the Danish World War II drama The Bombardment was first with 19.29 million hours viewed. Korean film The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure comes in second (12.23 million hours, followed by French crime thriller Restless (6.99 million hours), Indian comedy Badhaai Do (5.64 million hours) and Russian-language feature film Chernobyl 1986 (5.33 million hours).
Rounding out the top 10 are: the Dutch comedy Meskina (4.19 million hours), Spanish teen romance Through My Window (3.58 million hours), Italian film The Invisible Thread (3.14 million hours), Turkish rom-com Love Tactics (2.62 million hours), and Spanish thriller Black Beach (1.6 million hours).
