Paramount+ Sets May 5 Premiere for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Paramount+ has set the premiere date and released a teaser trailer for its latest Star Trek original series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The 10-episode series will debut Thursday, May 5 on the streamer, with new episodes airing weekly.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will follow the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise. Pike, along with his second-in-command Number One (Rebecca Romjin) and Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck) were featured in Season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery. The series will pre-date the command of Captain James T. Kirk.

This is Paramount+’s fifth Star Trek original series, following Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard and the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy.

Jess Bush (Nurse Christine Chapel), Christina Chong (La’an Noonien-Singh), Celia Rose Gooding (Cadet Nyota Uhura), Melissa Navia (Lt. Erica Ortegas) and Babs Olusanmokun (Dr. M’Benga) round out the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds cast.

Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners, with Goldsman directing the premiere episode. The series premiere was written by Goldsman with the story by Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
