‘Orphan Black’ Streaming Full Episodes on YouTube

Networks are finally clueing to the importance of the binge-watch. Maybe they’ve always known, like airing marathons of “Mad Men” before a season premiere, but recently content is being made available and advertised with “catching up,” in mind.  You see this with Comcast’s Watchathon, or the launch of HBO Now just before “Game of Thrones.”

BBC America is making it especially easy for “Orphan Black” fans. Instead of directing viewers to their website to stream full episodes, they created a a playlist on YouTube. That might be the best idea, ever.

Of course, it’s only four episodes so it’s serving a few purposes. It’s good marketing in the lead up the premiere, it makes it easy to watch (have you ever tried streaming from heavy sites like VH1 or BBC America?), and it’s a tease. You can’t watch just four episodes of a show like “Orphan Black,” and the only other place to find it for cord cutters is by purchasing it through Amazon. The team behind “Orphan Black” is skilled and aggressive in how it caters to fans. Now, if they keep adding episodes to YouTube before the premiere, that would be an even better strategy.
