Record ratings despite complaints: While some complained about tape-delays — @NBCDelayed popped up on Twitter — the Opening Ceremony set an all-time record for the event with a 23 rating. The first night of coverage set a record, too, with an average of 28 million people watching.
Spectators warned to tweet less – Excessive mobile use from spectators was blamed for technical problems along the cycling race route, disrupting TV coverage of the event.
