NFL+ Reportedly on Track to Debut in July

The NFL will proceed with the development of its own streaming service, NFL+, which will debut in July, according to Sports Business Journal.

NFL+ will feature live games on mobile phones and tablets and cost around $5 per month, but that pricing isn’t finalized. In addition, other types of content are expected to be included, such as radio, podcasts and other team-created content, the news outlet reports.

The live mobile/tablet games will be limited to what fans can watch on their local television stations. Until this year, those games were available on Yahoo for tablets and laptops, as well as major carriers for mobile phones, but those partnerships have expired.

Apple and Amazon are frontrunners in discussions for buying an equity part in NFL Media properties. If those agreements occur, the news outlet reports that NFL+ might factor into the package.

Reports first surfaced in March that the NFL was developing its own streaming service.
