Netflix Sets July 14 Premiere for Resident Evil Series

Welcome back to Raccoon City. Netflix said today that the Resident Evil series will premiere on Thursday, July 14. It is the first live-action series based on the Resident Evil video game franchise, which debuted in 1996 and is the best-selling horror game series with over 123 million units sold worldwide. The Resident Evil film franchise is the highest grossing video game film series, with $1.24 billion in global box office sales.

With the tagline “Evil Has Evolved,” the series takes place 14 years after the Umbrella Corporation unleashed a deadly virus which transformed humans into zombies as well as animals and plants into monsters. Lance Reddick (John Wick, Bosch) plays Albert Wesker, an accomplished virologist and former Umbrella Corporation employee hiding his own dark secrets. The series will follow Albert’s daughter, Jade Wesker who fights for survival in Raccoon City, which is overrun with bloodthirsty zombies and mutated creatures. Jade is haunted by her father’s mysterious ties to Umbrella Corporation and what happened to her sister Billie.

Resident Evil also stars Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, and Ahad Raza.
