Netflix has outdone itself once again.
The streamer broke its record for the number of original episodes released in a single quarter with 1,026 in the third quarter of 2022, according to a tally by Wall Street firm MoffettNathanson, obtained by Variety.
This figure doesn’t include episodes from licensed second-run shows like the CW’s Riverdale Season 6 and The Flash Season 8.
The total is five times greater than any other streamer. Prime Video comes “closest” – if you can call it that – with 223 episodes, followed by Hulu with 194 episodes. Disney+ and HBO Max released 140 and 114 episodes, respectively, per the report.
The previous record was in the fourth quarter of 2021 when the streamer released nearly 900 episodes from its 143 original and exclusive shows. In the third quarter of 2022, Netflix premiered 159 original and exclusive series.
Top TV titles included the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4, Ryan Murphy’s controversial Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, Cobra Kai Season 5 and Locke & Key Season 3.
