Cobra Kai returns on Sept. 9, and Netflix has released first-look photos for Season 5.

Following Cobra Kai’s win at the All Valley Tournament, the new season finds Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) expanding his empire with his “No Mercy” martial arts style. Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) must turn to former enemy Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto), his rival in Karate Kid II, to help take down Silver and the Cobra Kai dojo. Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan), Danny’s rival in Karate Kid III, also appears in Season 5, but whether he’s an ally or foe remains to be seen.

“As Terry Silver calls upon some old friends to put the Valley in a stranglehold, Daniel and Johnny are going to need all the help they can get to stop Cobra Kai in its tracks,” showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg said in a statement.

The cast includes Xolo Maridueña (Miguel Diaz), Tanner Buchanan (Robby Keene), Mary Mouser (Samantha LaRusso), Jacob Bertrand (Hawk), Gianni Decenzo (Demetri), Vanessa Rubio (Carmen), Peyton List (Tory) and Martin Kove (John Kreese).

Cobra Kai, a sequel to the original Karate Kid films by Robert Mark Kamen, revisits the characters of Danny LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) 34 years later. Cobra Kai re-examines the Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai rivalry from Johnny’s point of view, his decision to re-open Cobra Kai and its repercussions.
