
Netflix has canceled Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself after one season.
Based on Sally Green’s young adult novel, Half Bad, the eight-episode drama tells the story of Nathan Byrne, the son of a dangerous witch who struggles to overcome his odds of following in the footsteps of his father. The show debuted on Netflix, ranking No. 7 and remained on the Top 10 list for two weeks.
The fantasy series was well liked by critics and viewers alike with a 93% critic approval rating and 92% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Creator and executive producer Joe Barton shared news of the show’s cancellation on Twitter:

The Imaginarium, the production company behind the show, shared in their tweet: “Half Bad is a show we are incredibly proud of, which gained stellar reviews, along with a fiercely loyal global fanbase. While we are disappointed not to continue the story, we have loved working with such a talented cast and crew on bringing our beloved show to life.”
