Msnbc.com opens digital cafe in NYC

By Cory Bergman

Our marketing team here at msnbc.com has opened up a digital cafe in Rockefeller Plaza — a unique, physical brand extension of msnbc.com. It offers coffee, sandwiches and free WiFi, of course. You can play msnbc.com’s NewsBlaster and NewsBreaker games arcade-style. And in the coming weeks, it will add touchscreen kiosks and a huge monitor to display Spectra — a cool visual news reader. “[It’s an acknowledgement of] the way the world is developing. Not everyone is going to come to your Web site everyday. So, we have been thinking of other ways to get our content out there,” said Catherine Captain, VP of marketing. (Full disclosure: I work for msnbc.com.)

Update: Today Show did a live shot from there this morning.
