Making your Media Matter 09

American University’s Center for Social Media is hosting the 5th annual Making your Media Matter conference today. Established and aspiring filmmakers, non-profit communications leaders, funders, and students are gathered to discuss and share information around how media makers can connect their ethical and aesthetic values with their financial needs. While advocacy and social change are key concerns to this group, online distribution and commercial issues of doing long and short-form documentary and enterprise video journalism are major topics on the agenda and in the corridor buzz. Creators are also discussing how community plays a role in the work on all levels, in geographic community and affinity relationships.
