REPLAY: Should we delete incorrect tweets?

UPDATE: The live chat is over, but you can watch the rerun here by hitting “play.” (Nothing more exciting than watching a rerun of text posting occasionally…) The big thing to come out of this? People want some way of editing tweets, whether it’s by rewriting the text (my choice) or having a strikethrough (popular among many).

During the reporting on the Tucson shootings, there was a lot of information flying around the traditional and social web. Some information turned out to be accurate, some didn’t. Especially concerning was the incorrect tweet that Rep. GIffords had died. Here, I joined Search Engine Land’s Danny Sullivan and Scott Rosenberg from MediaBugs.org, a news accuracy monitoring site, in a discussion presented by Poynter. Our topic: How should journalists handle incorrect tweets?
